3. What are the differences between softwoods and hardwoods?

The terms softwoods is used to designate woods that are primarily needle-bearing conifers such as pine, spruce and fir. Hardwoods are represented by the deciduous trees that have broad leaves, produce a fruit or nut and generally are dormant in the winter. The American hardwoods that we use are cherry, maple, and walnut. We also offer one other hardwood – African ribbon mahogany, which is being grown in tropical West, Central & East Africa.

Hardwoods are generally stronger than softwoods and typically have more interesting figure and grain patterns.
