

3. What are the differences between
softwoods and hardwoods?
The terms softwoods is used to
designate woods that are primarily needle-bearing conifers such
as pine, spruce and fir. Hardwoods are represented by the deciduous
trees that have broad leaves, produce a fruit or nut and generally
are dormant in the winter. The American hardwoods that we use
are cherry, maple, and walnut. We also offer one other hardwood – African
ribbon mahogany, which is being grown in South America.
Hardwoods
are generally stronger than softwoods and typically have more
interesting figure and grain patterns.
